Common Causes of Existing Epoxy Coating Failure

The most common causes of existing resin flooring failure are improper surface preparation, thermal shock and water vapor pressure. If proper preventive measures are not taken before and during the initial installation, it may become necessary to replace or resurface your existing floor.

Yankee employs a wide range of dust-free surface preparation techniques including shot blasting, diamond grinding, scarification, and ultra high pressure water jetting (40,000 psi) to ensure proper adhesion of new coatings. We also use microbial bioremediation chemicals to safely remove oil from dirty concrete floors before epoxy coatings are applied. Our knowledgeable technicians always check for water vapor in advance, and prevent thermal shock by using hi-temperature resin coupled with special primers and fiber reinforcement.
Benefits of Epoxy Flooring

Yankee’s epoxy-based flooring and mortar are installed for smooth transitions and add slip resistance providing for a safer environment with less chance of accidents. Our resilient and attractive epoxy flooring systems can be installed with little down time. These chemically resistant floors will not retain dirt or bacteria and provide a surface that is sanitary and easy to clean. Epoxy floors are skid, impact and abrasion resistant with many color and texture options available.
